How We Help Marriages
There are many options available if you want to improve your marriage. The important thing is to get started with something and then consistently apply what you learn.
No Matter Your Current Marriage Situation, We Can Help!
Do you see yourself in one of these scenarios?
1. You love your spouse, but you feel some of the “connection” or romantic feelings are decreasing? Some people describe this by saying they love their spouse, but they aren’t in love with them anymore.
2. You feel your marriage is on its last legs and potentially headed for divorce, but your spouse doesn’t seem to care enough to change. Maybe you are sick and tired of broken, empty promises or hate arguing all the time or tired of your needs not being met.
3. You thought things were going okay, but your spouse is threatening to leave.
4. Things are going well except for a few unresolved issues you’d like to handle.
5. You are preparing for marriage and want to make it the best you can.
No matter what brings you here, we can help you learn what it takes to build a loving marriage that lasts. As you evolve (or improve) yourself by fixing problems, achieving goals, and changing from the inside out, your marriage and other parts of your life can improve too.
We can help you from wherever you are starting from and since no two people are exactly the same, flexibility is an important part of our program. We start with the foundation of four key pillars of a loving marriage and helping clients to:
- Become Mr. or Mrs. Right
- Fall in Love Again
- Stop Hurting Each Other
- Resolve Common Problems
And then continue to build from there.
Marriage Building Options
Marriage Counseling: This provides all of the benefits of our coaching and educational options combined with top-of-the-line treatment for problems such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD that may be at the root of your marriage problems. Sessions can be for one spouse or both depending on your situation. If needed, we can include other family members as well.
Marriage Coaching: For those without an underlying diagnosable problem who need interactive help with their marriage, coaching may fit the bill. It’s available for individuals, couples, or in groups.
Self-Study: For those with the motivation to study on their own, to push themselves, and willingness to hold themselves accountable, self-study may help. Please understand that reading or learning about something doesn’t solve anything without acting on what is learned. Please don’t choose this option if you aren’t going to do the work. We have a growing collection of free and premium guides and training to choose from.
What are the main differences between counseling and coaching?
With marriage counseling:
- Your insurance may pay for some of your session fees if you or your spouse have an underlying diagnosis for conditions such as anxiety, PTSD, or depression.
- Therapists have at least Master’s degrees, are approved and licensed by state professional licensing boards, and are bound by strict ethics and privacy laws.
- Treatment is based on the client’s personal situation and uses not only traditional mental health counseling techniques but may also include any of our other resources such as coaching tools, homework assignments, or self-study content. Counseling provides the broadest set of tools and techniques available to those with an underlying mental health diagnosis.
Marriage coaching, on the other hand:
- Cannot be billed to insurance.
- Is provided by professional coaches who are thoroughly trained and certified by us to help clients improve their marriages using our proprietary techniques and tools. There currently is no regulatory requirement for coaches to be licensed by government agencies but we hire and train coaches with the same care we hire licensed mental health counselors.
- Coaching does not include diagnosis or treatment of any disease. In fact, if a person has an underlying medical condition such as depression or anxiety that is causing current issues in their life or marriage, they do not qualify for coaching but could take advantage of our counseling services.
- Coaching does not delve into the past but is focused on actions and changes that can be done now. Goal setting, accountability, action, homework, mindset, and more are all important to succeeding when working with a coach. Typically, coaching is the best option for those without an underlying mental health diagnosis.
